Reuse a workflow across several processes
Build a process once, such as choosing the right owner for a company, and reuse it from several workflows instead of copying the same steps into each one.
For example, a demo-request workflow and a partner-referral workflow can both call the same company-routing workflow. If your routing process changes, you update that shared workflow once.
Pass a record to another workflow and use its result
A subflow receives an Attio record, such as a Company, along with any extra values the calling workflow supplies. It can then return values for the calling workflow's next steps. Your company-routing subflow could receive a region and return the selected owner's email address.
In Attio's workflow editor, the Neon Deer app provides three blocks:
- Start a subflow starts the reusable workflow when another workflow calls it.
- Call a subflow sends a record and input values to that workflow.
- Return from a subflow sends the result back to the workflow that made the call.
The calling workflow can wait for the result and use the returned values. If it does not need an answer, it can continue immediately; in that mode, it receives no returned values.
The subflow guide walks through setup and a company-routing example. You can review calls in Neon Deer's Automations app alongside other workflow runs, using the Subflow runs filter.
Install the app through Neon Deer
Subflows are available through the Advanced Workflow Automations app. Open All apps in Neon Deer and use the app's install link. It is available there while its public Attio marketplace listing is pending. Subflows require a plan that includes scheduled workflow runs.
Find workflow steps that need attention
When an Attio workflow uses a Neon Deer trigger or action, such as looking up an owner in a reference table, you can now inspect its reported activity in Neon Deer. The Automations Activity page shows recent executions and links to the relevant Attio run, or to the workflow when a direct run link is unavailable.
Failures are grouped by workflow, step, and reason, so repeated attempts with the same problem are easier to investigate together. Search by workflow or step, open an issue, and follow its Attio link to investigate.
After reviewing failures, you can acknowledge them to clear them from the list needing attention. Acknowledging records that you reviewed the problem; it does not fix or rerun the workflow. A new failure appears again even if it has the same reason.
