Email Notifications

Email a teammate from an Attio workflow. Tell an account owner about a new signup, a deal ready for handoff, or a form submission that needs a response.

How it works

Add Send email notification to your Attio workflow. Choose an Attio workspace member, supply a subject, and write the message. The step finishes with Queued as soon as Neon Deer accepts the alert, so your workflow continues without waiting for delivery.

Organization admins use Email Notifications in Neon Deer to see recent activity, check individual alerts, and configure sending preferences. Each organization can also add a subject prefix and one BCC address.

Email Notifications is a separate Attio app from Advanced Workflow Automations. Install and connect it even if you already use Automations.

Installation and setup

  1. Install Email Notifications. Open Email Notifications on the Attio App Store and install it in the Attio workspace where your workflows run.
  2. Connect Workspace access. Open Email Notifications in Neon Deer. An organization admin chooses Connect workspace on the first setup card and approves the Attio workspace shown. This lets Neon Deer read the member list used to address alerts.
  3. Enable Email alerts. Choose Enable email alerts on the second card. Finish the connection on the Connections tab in Attio, then return to Neon Deer to check the result. Both connections are required to finish setup; see the shared connection guide.
  4. Turn on alerts. As an organization admin, open Email Notifications → Settings in Neon Deer and turn on Send email alerts. You can also use Turn on email alerts on Overview. Alerts start off for a new organization.
  5. Choose your settings. Review the subject prefix, optional BCC address, and sending preferences, then choose Save settings. On plans that include sending, these fields become editable when alerts are on. If your plan does not include sending, you can prepare the settings before upgrading.
  6. Add the workflow step. In Attio's workflow editor, add Send email notification and set its Recipient, Subject, and Message. Follow the step reference for an example.

You can also reach Activity and Settings from the app's Settings tab in Attio, using Open alerts or Open settings. Only organization admins can open Email Notifications in Neon Deer.

Allow the sender

Alerts come from CRM Workflow Notification at alerts@notify.neondeerdata.com. To help keep alerts out of spam, add this address to your allowed senders or contacts. If your company filters incoming email, ask your email administrator to allow this address.

Who can receive an alert

The recipient must be an active member of the connected Attio workspace. Choose a member directly or supply an Attio workspace member from an earlier workflow step, such as the deal owner.

Neon Deer checks Attio's member list when sending. A removed or suspended member does not receive the alert. If the member list cannot be read, the alert waits until it can be checked.

Use the app for internal alerts. The workflow step does not accept an arbitrary email address or send customer campaigns. Messages are plain text with line breaks preserved, with no attachments; we recommend including a record link so the recipient can open the relevant record in Attio.

Receiving an alert does not require admin access. Reviewing Activity, canceling alerts, and changing settings do.

An admin can add one organization-wide BCC address to receive a copy of every alert. Each alert, including its BCC copy, counts as one email alert. Please contact us if you need to include additional BCC recipients.

Queued and sent are different

The step's Queued outcome confirms Neon Deer accepted the alert. It does not wait for the email to be sent. Alerts may wait according to the sending preferences your admin has chosen. Check Activity if an alert has not arrived.

Review sending preferences to control alert frequency and when waiting alerts are no longer useful.

Sent to email provider in Neon Deer means the email provider accepted the message. It does not confirm arrival in the recipient's inbox or that they read it. Check the alert statuses when you need to know what happened.
