00 Today we are looking at detecting changes in multi-value attributes with Advanced Workflow Automations. These can be People associated with a Deal, workspace members on a Company, email addresses, domains, or phone numbers. The challenge is identifying the specific value that was added or removed. Complete the app's connections and Neon Deer account setup before following along.

24 If you add a Person to a Deal, the new associated People value contains everyone linked to that Deal. Reading the first Person does not reliably identify who was just added. Looping through the new values also processes People who were already there. We need to compare what was there before with what is there now.

47 Use Compare records. Choose the object type and map the previous values into Set A and the new values into Set B. The results include records in both sets, records only in A, records only in B, and the differences. With previous values in A and new values in B, Only in B gives you the additions, Only in A gives you the removals, and the differences include both. Pass the result you need into the next step.

38 Compare values works in a similar way for domains, email addresses, and phone numbers. Choose the value type and map the previous and new values. In the example, changing a Company's domains shows which domain was added or removed without writing a code block to compare the two lists.

57 Compare members uses the same approach for workspace members. For example, a Company can have a field with multiple owners. Compare its previous and new values to identify which workspace member was added or removed. The two sets do not have to represent a previous and new value, but that is a useful way to understand the results.
